Don’t Waste Your Mono, Part 2

It’s difficult to find that ‘balance’ behind resting and not feeling lazy.

I’ve really just began to feel like a whole person again, starting this week. With a ton of stuff going on in life- missions trip with the students, being available to them (all while not getting them sick), reading and planning for the new year, studying for finals…while prepping for the new semester- it’s been hard to think in terms of ‘taking it easy.’ Thank God for brief reminders of the tension between how much I make of myself and how much God makes of me. Pride is a debilitating disease, indeed. And not just in terms of general output in life, but also in terms of overall growth. (As if you could separate the two. But that’s another talk for another time…)

Just as a for instance, at GPC (Gracepoint Church), there is an increasing need for a young adults outreach/ministry. Folks from many different walks of life, from the GED/non-high school crowd to 20 something’s, are showing up. As a community of Jesus followers, we should ‘naturally’ be ‘all things to all people (1 Cor 9:19-21). A difficult predicament  seems to presents itself though. In small church life, there are a limited amount of people. And with that limited pool of people available, not everyone is able/willing to volunteer. ‘Able’ in regards of time, maturity, giftedness, etc; ‘willing’ in regards of desire. Long story short, I thought the answer, as far as leadership was concerned, lied with me.

I’m learning that the answer to all problems, difficulties, and challenges that are experienced (personally and corporately) is not me.

Partnering with the Church Universal is the best solution, the only solution.

Just as a way to be brief, I’d encourage you to let your pride fall low. Whoever you are. Whatever you’re doing. Drop it. And glory in the fact that God demonstrates his multi-faceted wisdom though the whole Church (Eph 3:8-12). And that looks like working together in beautiful unity & love, allowing one another to serve with their gifts & and passion, and making God known to a dead world.

Where Am I?
